Chilliwack

(pop. 80,000)

With majestic mountains towering over crystal clear lakes, Chilliwack’s spectacular natural setting presents a unique number of diverse sports and recreational opportunities. Chilliwack’s blend of urban and rural amenities make it a favourite destination for tourists who flock to the area each year to take advantage of activities including world class fishing, rafting, hiking and golfing.

Conveniently located 100km east of Vancouver on the Trans-Canada Highway(#1), 30 minutes from Abbotsford International Airport and the closest US border crossing, Chilliwack is easy to reach for the many international visitors we welcome each year.

The city’s jewel in the crown is the 5,000-seat Prospera Centre, capable of hosting national sporting events as well as serving as a home to Chilliwack’s own Western Hockey League franchise, The Chilliwack Bruins. Housing two of the city’s four NHL size ice rinks, Prospera Centre is located close to the Chilliwack’s downtown core in an area known as The Landing, which includes Townsend Park, Exhibition Field with its 2000 seat grandstand, and the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Chilliwack’s premier fitness and aquatic facility. Home to multi-purpose pitches and an all-weather artificial turf field, Townsend Park is the ideal location for large scale sporting events requiring multiple playing surfaces in one location. With abundant open space, Chilliwack’s well developed parks system includes 62 soccer pitches, 78 ball fields and a 400m International Standard athletics track.
