Nickel Plate Nordic Centre, located just 45 minutes from downtown Penticton, has 65km of groomed trails for both classic cross country and skate skiing. The facility also has 20km marked backcountry trails and 20km of snowshoe trails. At an elevation of 6,000 feet (1,830m), Nickle Plate is ideal for high altitude training and the ski season is one of the longest in the western hemisphere.
A 4,000 square foot day lodge has kitchen facilities with eating and lounge areas and heated washrooms and shower facilities. Accommodation is close by at Apex Mountain Resort or in Penticton.
Nickle Plate is one of the five host courses for the Genesis Interior Loppet Cross Country Ski series and is looking into trail certification in order to host a potential Canada Winter Games bid in 2015. The Swedish National Team trained here in 2006 and Nickle Plate looks forward to hosting other teams prior to the 2010 Olympics.
