Pitt Lake at Grant Narrows Regional Park

Pitt Lake is the largest tidal lake in the world. Camping, boating, fishing, water sports and hiking are just a few of the activities that can be enjoyed in the Pitt Lake area.

There is a boat launch area as well as a seasonal concession, portable toilets and an on-site caretaker. This 24 km long lake is surrounded by rugged terrain making only the south end accessible by road. There are a limited amount of remote natural campsites on Pitt Lake with full accommodations, facilities and services available in the nearby communities of Pitt Meadows or Maple Ridge.

The dikes in the southern marshy areas of Pitt Lake have numerous marked trails and are excellent for bird watching. Bird watching towers can be found along the dikes.

• Pitt Lake is home to the Pitt Meadows Paddling Club
• the initial emphasis of the club is on Dragon Boat, they also offer access to flatwater canoes and kayaks as used in the Olympics

• Grant Narrows - This six-kilometre area provides countless opportunities to view wildlife and the wide variety of vegetation and plants in the marsh

• Pitt Polder Ecological Reserve - This reserve protects a granite outcrop surrounded by the typical marshes which once occupied most of this area

• Fool's Gold Route - the only multi day hiking route near Vancouver

Weather Information

Pitt Meadows has one of the mildest climates and longest frost-free period and growing season in Canada. Spring and Fall can be warm and pleasant, especially in June and September. The City experiences an estimated 1,400 to 1,800 sunshine hours annually with 73% of the total occurring during April through September. Summer temperatures range from 22 to 28°C (72 to 83°F). Winters are mild, and if snow falls it doesn't stay long. Average low temperature for December and January is 2 to 4°C (36 to 39°F). The City receives approximately 1,150 mm of precipitation annually, with most rainfall occurring between October and March.
