Victoria

(pop. 325,000)

Victoria is a city of uncompromising beauty, climate, and community and, as such, is an ideal location for athletes to train and compete. Located on the southern most tip of Vancouver Island, B.C.s capital city, Victoria, is a sparking jewel set in the pristine wilderness of Canada's west coast and is surrounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean. A temperate climate, spectacular outdoor venues, a local government dedicated to the promotion of sport and recreation, and an enthusiastic community of 350,000 people make Victoria a receptive, year-round sport destination. In fact, Victoria has already proven itself to be an excellent host to international sporting events, such as the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

Victoria is a city best known for its spectacular gardens, natural scenery, and rich history, making it very attractive as a tourism destination. Victoria, therefore, is home to beautiful waterfront hotels, first class restaurants, shopping boutiques, and many other activities and attractions. The city's temperate climate and numerous trails ensures that residents and visitors of all ages can enjoy sailing, fishing, golf, cycling, and jogging even in the middle of winter!

Victoria is a growing home for semi-professional sports teams and is often used as a training ground for numerous professional athletes. With all these perks in mind, it is no wonder that 20% of Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic competitors make their homes here! We invite you to explore the numerous local sporting facilities that Victoria has to offer.
