There are many sports and recreational activities in and around Golden. The town has an ice hockey arena, the oldest curling club in Canada, a beautifully refinished indoor gym court, tennis courts, an outdoor pool, skateboard park and a circuit of trails winding through the community.
On the outskirts of town, the Columbia Wetlands offers naturalists the opportunity to experience the longest contiguous wetlands in North America, 180 kilometers.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is located on the eastern-most slopes of the Purcell Mountains. Kicking Horse is dramatically surrounded by six national parks: Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier and Mt. Revelstoke, Jasper and Banff.
Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre offers over 30 km of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. The trail system offers gently rolling beginner loops to moderate difficulty trails with extraordinary views of the mountains.
The Golden Curling Club is the oldest club in Canada and has been in operation since 1893. The Club is centrally located and close to all amenities and has parking.
The Golden District Recreation Centre is within easy access to all amenities in town. The facility underwent upgrades in 2005 and is the centre is used by the local Figure Skating Club and the Golden Extreme Junior "B" Hockey team.
