Kelowna Capital News Centre

Capital News Centre's two arenas each feature five dressing rooms and its indoor artificial turf fields have many more to meet the needs of all teams and officials. There are two meeting spaces available with audio-visual equipment for camps, meetings and tournaments. Additionally, Capital News Centre contains a physical therapy clinic, a fully equiped cardio and weight fitness centre, a spacious lobby with concession and a licensed restaurant with a view of the main arena.

Capital News Centre is completely wheelchair accessible. In March 2007, the main arena underwent a retrofit to make the facility barrier free for sledge hockey. It is one of a few facilities in Western Canada that is fully accessible for all hockey enthusiasts.

Hockey Canada played host to the 2007 World Sledge Hockey Challenge at Capital News Centre. Round-robin action featured teams from Norway, Germany, USA and Canada, with sold out crowds cheering Canada to its gold medal over Norway.

Capital News Centre was also the site of the 2008 BC Short Track Speed Skating Championship and was used as an Accreditation Centre and Special Event venue during the 2008 BC Summer Games in Kelowna.

Capital News Centre now has the added benefit of being located right beside the new, 8,920-square-metre H2O Adventure and Fitness Centre at Mission Recreation Park. The massive park, which also features a lit artificial turf field as well as grass fields and ball diamonds, is located 10 minutes from downtown Kelowna.
