Kitimat is a community of 9000 people (2006 census) based on an industrial economy, with the biggest employer being Rio Tinto at the Kitimat Works, Aluminum Smelter. For a community of its size, Kitimat boasts some of, if not the best, recreational and sporting activities for communities its size in B.C.
Kitimat plays host to provincial, national, and even international level competitions on a regular basis. Kitimat has a history of working with provincial sporting organizations and private sport teams to provide a great experience, whether it be a tournament, try outs or tune up games for international tournaments, the District of Kitimat has done it all in a professional manner rivaled by no one.
