Paulson Cross Country Trails

The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has been providing well maintained cross country ski trails in the Rossland-Paulson area for the last 30 years. Located 30 km from the Blackjack Nordic Center, the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club provides an additional 45 km of groomed trails to the network creating a multi-venue Nordic ski destination. There are an additional 8.5 km trails which are left ungroomed and natural.

Located in the Nancy Greene Pass area of the Rossland Mountain Range, the Club’s 1,350 meter (4,500 foot) elevation provides a long and consistent snow season stretching from early November through late April.

The trails range through a variety of terrain and vegetation types including old growth reserves, recent plantations, second growth forests and partly open, alpine like areas at higher elevations.

There are four warming shelters distributed through the area with toilets and rescue/first-aid equipment. Rescue toboggans are also found in several other locations. A 38 x 18 foot multi-windowed building (The Viking Centre) at the Mud Lake entrance to the area serves as a meeting place and a base for such activities as B.C. Rabbit lessons, races and other group activities.
