The Strathcona Gardens is an ice and aquatic centre which has two NHL-Size ice surfaces, a leisure/practice ice surface, a 37.5 meter swimming pool, a leisure pool with a water slide, and a fitness area. This facility has been renovated and has the ability to meet a number of sporting needs.

The City of Campbell River in partnership with the Strathcona Regional District manage the majority of the sporting facilities in the community and have a wealth of information and resources to help groups plan their sporting events. The Visitor Centre works year-round to support sporting groups as well by providing valuable information about the community and the activities and facilities that Campbell River has to offer.
The Strathcona Gardens was co-host to the 2008 U-17 World Hockey Championships.
The average summer temperature is 17 °C (63 °F), but fluctuates from as low as 10 °C (50 °F) at night to 22 °C (72 °F) or higher during the day. The average winter temperature is 5°C (41°F).
