UBC Thunderbird Arena

The UBC Thunderbird Arena can house up to 7,500 people for special events including concerts, conventions, and speakers in addition to almost any type of sport event. The newly constructed multi-purpose area now also houses the Vancouver Whitecaps FC training centre, 13 public dressing rooms, six referee / coach’s room, two varsity rooms and one alumni room.

The updated Father David Bauer Arena, built in 1963, has 900 permanent seats and is primarily used as a venue for hockey-related programs or support for larger events taking place in the main arena.

-5,033 permanent seats with room for additional 1,500 temporary seats in the two concourse areas. A further 1,600 floor seats can be added for concerts or similar special events.
-Main arena ice surface is 17,000 square feet (200 feet x 85 feet) and is capable to increase to Olympic Size.
-Main arena ceiling height from ice to low steel is 50 feet
-Concourse level offers two open space areas on the East (4,069 sq ft) and West (3,186 sq ft) end of the main arena
-In-house rolling stage available with adjustable height mix platform
-Full service concession and proshop with skate sharpening service
