Vancouver

(pop. 2,000,000)

Metro Vancouver is a rapidly growing cosmopolitan city of 2.1 million people in a location of unsurpassed natural beauty.

A true playground for all ages, Vancouverites are loyal to their outdoor recreation, keen athletic participants and dedicated sports fans. Given the area’s moderate climate, activities can be enjoyed the year round. Locals often boast it is possible to “ski, sail and golf all in the same day “Well it’s true!!

A vibrant city, the pedestrian-friendly streets are filled with individuals from varied ethnic backgrounds and walks of life. As a result of its culturally diverse population, Vancouver has equally diverse neighbourhoods, all of which provide equally diverse neighbourhoods.

Perched on the pacific west coast of Canada, Vancouver is a premier tourism and event destination. The city is one of North Americas' premier transportation hubs, which offers convenient access via all modes of transport. The award winning airport provides easy, direct access to Europe, Asia and all major U.S cities.

We are very proud to have been recognised as the “most livable city in the world” and believe that our quality of life is second to none. Our goal, supported by Provincial government strategies is to be recognised as the healthiest community to host an Olympic games.

The city has a strong sporting history stretching from the historic “Miracle Mile” in 1954 through to the announcement in 2003 that we would join the Olympic family as host to the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are the home to Olympians, World Champions and trophy winning teams. We have been inspired by Terry Fox, Rick Hansen and many other sporting greats who are proud to call Vancouver their sporting home.
