Whistler Olympic Plaza was the site where global audiences gathered nightly to see the best athletes in the world step up to the podium at Victory Ceremonies during the 2010 Winter Games. Now, as a lasting legacy of the Games, Whistler Olympic Plaza will accommodate audiences of up to 5,000 and become a permanent venue for recreation, sporting events, community celebrations, arts and culture.
Scheduled for full completion in Summer, 2011, Whistler Olympic Plaza will be a hub of activity:
§ 3,100 m2 (33,170 sq ft) grass lawn along with seating stairs and terraces
§ Performance pavilion with covered seating for up to 600 complete with full back of house and dressing room facilities and integrated “plug and play” outdoor performance spaces
§ An accessible playground
§ Public art celebrating the 2010 Winter Games
§ Tremendous views of the surrounding mountains
The Plaza will be a place to explore 2010 Winter Games artifacts including the Olympic Rings, Paralympic Agitos (latin for “I move”), the 2010 Games cauldron and installations to recognize the contributions of athletes, medal winners, volunteers, government and partner organizations involved in Whistler's journey to host the 2010 Winter Games.

Two large stage locations
-one at the north end of the site
-the other backing onto the pavilion. This one can utilize the covered pavilion space as an extensive back of house and production facility
-Two stages are ideal for large festivals
Strategically placed audio, video, lighting, performance power, event patch panels, and “plug and play” infrastructure with a central power control room in the Pavilion’s back of house space.
A fibre optic backbone that runs through Whistler Village to link performance areas within the site, connect to other plaza spaces and/or the Whistler Conference Centre.

Winter:
Due to Whistler’s coastal proximity, temperatures are moderate through the winter season, rarely dipping below -10°C (12°F) in the valley and -15°C (5°F) in the alpine during the coldest part of the year. Expect -5°C (22°F) average daily alpine temperatures during most of the winter months.
Summer:
Average temperatures in Whistler Valley can range through the summer months from 9 Celsius (48 Fahrenheit) to 27 Celsius (81 Fahrenheit). Average temperatures in the alpine during the summer months can range from -1Celsius (30 Fahrenheit) to 16 Celsius (61 Fahrenheit).
