Williams Lake is located in the heart of the Cariboo Chilcotin. Located 552 km north of Vancouver and 240 km south of Prince George, Williams Lake is the hub of the Cariboo Chilcotin. With its vast landscape that stretches from the wildness of the Pacific Coast to the tranquility of the rolling Coast Mountains, and with miles upon miles of forests, hidden lakes, and golden plains, the Cariboo Chilcotin is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and nature lovers, and has often been referred to as the "Land Without Limits".
Situated at the junction of Highway 97 (the main north-south corridor in the province) and Highway 20 (the only road access to Bella Coola and rest of BC’s beautiful central coast), many residents from the surrounding communities of 150 Mile House, Likely, Horsefly, McLeese Lake, Chimney Lake, Wildwood, and Springhouse commute daily to jobs or use the wide range of transportation, trading, financial, educational, health care, travel, and administrative services available in Williams Lake.
Due to its prime central location, Williams Lake is ideal for hosting events and consistently draws thousands of people into the community for annual events such as the Williams Lake Stampede and Indoor Rodeo.
